Proteins, vitamins, minerals and fats

In this article we will tell you the basic functions that proteins, vitamins, minerals and fats fulfill.

Let’s start with the proteins. They have a structural or plastic function, they are the most important nutrients when creating and maintaining the structure of skeletal muscle. They are regulators of an infinity of vital functions, so much of the biological material is protein in nature, such as enzymes, immunoglobulins and neurotransmitters.

We continue with vitamins, they do not provide energy or calories by themselves, they perform specific functions in the body such as catalyzing chemical reactions and are essential for metabolism.

Now we continue with minerals, they are inorganic compounds found in earth, stones and water, and they are very important for the proper functioning of the body. One of the main functions is to act as catalysts in the regulation of muscle contractions and in the transmission of nerve impulses.

And finally, there are fats, which are essential for the proper functioning of the immune system, the hormonal system and the nervous system, as well as being a reserve or long-term source of energy.
